2020 Vision

Moving towards the church that
God imagines for us

A Vision for Healthy Churches and Presbyteries in 2020

Recently, a cohort of national church leaders excited about congregational transformation and change gathered to vision and reimagine the church for 2020. After several days of exciting and passionate conversation and debate, the group developed a vision for a healthy church in 2020.

God does have a future for our congregations and their ministries. Sometimes that future is clear and other times somewhat foggy.

The Partnership for Missional Church is a process of discerning God’s promised and planned future for your ministry as a congregation.

Congregations, through the Partnership for Missional Church process, develop leaders, build engagement with and within the congregation, and connect the church with its neighbors and God’s mission in the community.

It is the work of the Holy Spirit, which blows where it will. And blow it does. Through Partnership forMissionalChurch, a church learns to hoist their sails and catch the wind of the Spirit. Like sailing, PMC involves skills and habits to help along the journey of Missional discernment.

When Churches complete the PMC journey they have a deeper understanding of how God is sending them into the community. They have built relationships in the community and found ways to connect with God’s mission in those relationships. And, they have captured those learnings in documents that say who they are, how they are being sent and the future they believe God has for them.

Your congregation is invited to join the 3rd Cluster of the Partnership for Missional Church. This cluster will begin in October or when we have 9 committed congregations. If you would like additional information or your congregation is ready to participate please contact Jeanne Radak at jradak@presbyphl.org or call at 215-242-1400 ext. 313. Presbytery Staff and members of other PMC congregations are available to talk with your session.
